RCMIC began operations in 1994 as a group self insurance fund for Tennessee road contractors. In December 2006, a non-assessable mutual insurance company was created from the trust in order to expand its territorial operations and allow the company to increase the range of products and services available for its policy holders. Road Contractors Mutual Insurance Company is a licensed and admitted carrier in Tennessee.
